Fraud detection has been my focus since 2019, first at a payments processor in Istanbul and now as a consultant. I build models that balance catch rate against false declines, because blocking 2% of good customers to stop 0.1% of fraud is not a win. My gradient boosting pipeline at my last full-time role saved an estimated 1.8M USD a year.
