There is no DevOps hire in our plan for at least two more quarters, and it shows. We are an eight-person startup running a document processing product on EKS, and infrastructure work lands on whichever backend engineer complains least. Upgrades get postponed, alerts get muted, and last month a certificate expiry took the API down for an hour. We are looking for a fractional infrastructure engineer at around 10 hours per week: own the Kubernetes upgrade cadence, review infrastructure changes our team proposes, tune alerting so it stops crying wolf, keep an eye on AWS spend, and be reachable (not on-call, just reachable) when something looks wrong. First engagement runs three months with the intent to extend if it works for both sides. You will have real ownership - we want opinions and a short monthly written summary of state and risks, not a ticket-taker.
